We will venture over to the fascinating Sule Pagoda before a casual and enjoyable stroll through Mahabandoola Park,home to the Independent Moument. After lunch we will head to the Bogyoke Aung San Market for the perfect spot of shopping Burmese handicrafts.
After a walk around this fantastic site we will hop back in the car and take a scenic drive to Bogyoke Aung San Museum.The museum is located in the house where General Aung San and his family lived and includes a selection of photos and political speeches, in addition to displays of the family bedrooms and family rooms.As the sun starts to set on our first day, we will head to the legendary Shwedagon Pagoda and its golden stupa that has been at the heart of Myanmar for over 2500 years.
Afterwards, enjoy an authentic cultural experience by seeing a puppet show to finish your evening in Yangon.
This morning, prepare to Hopefully you’ve had another restful night’s sleep because after breakfast at the hotel, we will be making a comfortable transfer to Yangon airport and boarding a flight to Bagan airport. Yes, we are heading to Bagan! A jewel of Myanmar, get ready to be dazzled by Bagan’s beauty. This ancient kingdom dates back to the 11th century and offers visitors over 42 sq. km (26 sq. mi) of ancient temples and temple ruins. This protected archaeological zone features more than 2,200 ornamented Buddhist temples, monasteries, pagodas and ruins. Be inspired by the impressive Thatbinnyu, one of Bagan’s most famed monuments constructed by King Alaung Sithu. We will make sure you don’t miss the Ananda Temple, with its four huge standing Buddha images alongside other figures, Ananda temple’s gallery is certainly one not to be missed. All the excitement is bound to make you hungry. We will have lunch at one of our favorite small, locally run restaurants before returning to the hotel to rest and escape the midday sun. Today we will enjoy the best way to get around Bagan. We will begin with a visit to the morning market. The perfect insight into local life in Bagan. Afterwards,you will be taken to a botanical garden to see some beautiful star tortoises. Rare in other parts of the world, these beautiful creatures have flourished in the Lawkananda Wildlife Sanctuary and other shady gardens around Bagan. If the time is right, you may also have a chance to help feeding the star tortoises before returning to Bagan.We will continue to discover the Thanaka Museum. Next up, get ready to immerse yourself in the full grandeur of Burmese culture at Htilominlo, one of the largest and most impressive temples in Bagan. Let yourself get lost in the splendour of its fine plaster carvings over its arch pediments, frieze and other stunning architectural qualities.We will continue our journey with a visit to the golden stupa of Shwezigon Pagoda where we will be introduced to Bagan’s rich history. Lunch will be served at a delicious local restaurant before a comfortable transfer to your hotel to take some rest for 1-2 hours. Our afternoon of adventure begins with a visit to enormous Buddhas of Manuha temple, Next visit is the unforgettable Dhammayangyi Temple,Relax and enjoy an unforgettable sunset over the rolling plains spanning Sunset Hill. The perfect end to the perfect day.
Today our adventure starts as the sun rises, enjoy a spectacular hot air balloon ride over the temples of ancient city,Bagan. We will see many temples in the distance and get a spectacular aerial view of Bagan. Sometimes you may fly over villages and see people on their early morning rounds, feeding their animals; or going to market. It is an amazing and interactive experience.
We will kick off today with a ride on horse & cart to the rural village of Minnanthu. Minnanthu is one of the few traditional places where you can see cotton weaving and harvesting of crops. This will be our starting point to explore Bagan’s famous temples including the Laymyathnar Monastery Complex, Phayathonsu Temple, and Nandamannya with its mural paintings from the 13th century.
After lunch, heading back to the hotel for a break of about 1-2 hour.
Your afternoon adventure starts to observe a traditional lacquerware workshop. Here local craftsmen and women produce one of Myanmar’s best known handicrafts.
In the late afternoon, to catch a magnificent sunset,take a relaxing sunset cruise along the Irrawaddy River.
Later we will return to the hotel for our overnight stay.
After breakfast at the hotel, it’s time to make a comfortable transfer to Kalaw.Sit back and enjoy the scenic journey through some of Myanmar’s most beautiful landscape. Be dazzled by all that Shan State has to offer, from towering mountains, through to lush fields before arriving in Kalaw.
Enjoy breakfast and get ready for fun and drive to green hill valley elephant camp in magwe village where we will be greeted with a welcome drink and an informative briefing on the day’s activities. The experts will tell us all about the history of the camp and the backstory to the elephant’s lives in Myanmar. Once we are fully briefed, we will enjoy the short walk to the river whilst passing through a reforestation project set up by the camp and local villagers. NOTE: For the well-being of the animals, elephant riding is not allowed.
Get ready to be greeted by the elephants! We will take time to speak with the guides who know each and every elephant very well. We will learn their name, age and the story behind their retirement at the camp. We can enjoy feeding the elephants with their favorite bananas and sugar cane with the help and guidance of the camp experts. After feeding, we will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to get dressed in traditional shan clothing and prepare the elephants for bathing. Located between two small falls, we will join the elephants for their daily wash routine in a natural pool.
After all the elephant excitement we are sure to have worked up an appetite. We will head back through the reforestation project and plant a tree on the way before enjoying lunch at the main camp. After lunch we will have some additional time to explore more of the camp by foot with a local trekking guide or interact with the elephants if appropriate.
As the sun starts to go down, it’s time to say goodbye to the elephants and their mahouts before heading back for an overnight stay at the hotel in Nyaung Shwe/Inle.
Following breakfast at hotel, get ready for an exciting day in one of Myanmar’s most wonderful regions.
We will have the privilege of taking a comfortable, private boat to enjoy our journey across the lake, passing through villages with stilted houses, and floating gardens built up from strips of water hyacinth and mud and anchored to the bottom with bamboo poles. Along the way we will see the famous leg-rowing fishermen who steer their boats with incredible balance.
Afterwards, we will head to Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the lake’s main sanctuary. Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda contains five sacred Buddha images and houses several royal barges that are used during the pagoda’s annual festival.
We will then proceed to the village of Inpawkhone where we will have the opportunity to observe the traditional silk-weaving techniques of Inthar people. Inpawkhone is also known for weaving with the stems of lotus flowers, a time-consuming process that results in high quality materials famous throughout the country. We can also visit a cheroot factory where local Burmese cigars are rolled by hand.
Next stop is the fascinating Inthar Heritage House. Here we will learn more about the history and culture of the lake’s indigenous people and enjoy a delicious Shan lunch.
The afternoon we will take scenic boat ride across Inle Lake to get off the beaten path a tiny rual village, Samkar. Gaze at the lake’s serene waters and lush bamboo forests while you make your way to Sankar, the farthest village in the area, where you’ll be greeted by a fantastic view of ruined stupas set against the dense vegetation behind it.
Be excited, because tonight we will have the exciting experience of staying the night in Samkar lodge.
Discover a hidden gem in Sankar Village shows you unique cultures, as well as stunning floating farms and villages.Meet the friendly villagers as you watch them collect lotus flowers from the lake and see students make their way from school. We will visit Thar Kaung, the only temple in the village, before we take a quick lunch break and head back to the hotel in Nyaung Shwe/ Inle.
