Is Myanmar Safe to travel?

In short answer, Yes.

tmtmtour offers a wide range of Family travel around the Myanmar. The minimum age (for Family trips) varies depending on destination, and tmtmtour has set minimum ages to ensure that the included activities suit each age range.

Health insurance and emergencies

Although there are high standard hospitals available in the big cities like Yangon,Mandalay, throughout the rest of the country, the healthcare system can be somewhat lacking. It is of utmost importance to take out relevant health insurance before you leave your home country.

This means shopping around for a travel insurance and private sector health insurance that will cover any eventuality whilst you are in Myanmar. Ensure you are provided with all the relevant details including emergency numbers and policy numbers.

If you are on regular medications, bring a copy of your prescription signed by your doctor and be sure to bring plenty of supplies for the duration of your trip.

Payment and Currency

There is no extra charges for credit card payment.

Can I use Credit Card in Myanmar?

Well credit card is not yet widely used. In some popular cities like Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan, you may find restaurants, hotel that accept credit card.

Please expect extra charge to use credit card. 

Anyhow tmtmtour.com does not apply extra fees for credit card usage.

Can I bring my currency to use in Myanmar?

We highly recommend to bring US dollar for the ease of exchange. Exchange rate is not very different from each other. Anyhow Yangon is the best place for currency exchange. 

Please let us know prior and we will arrange our crew to bring you to nice exchange counter.

Brief about Cancellation

Is there Cancellation fees?

It’s depends on the service you have taken. Private car rental service is free of charge to cancel before 2 days of departure date. If you make cancellation under 48 hours, 20% of booking fees will be applied.If cancellation is under 24 hours, full amount will be applied. 

Tour packages with accommodation, guide and activities need some charges for cancellation.For detail kindly read at our terms and conditions page here

What if our flight delay?

Our crew will wait for you till the flight is landed. Do not worry about it. Enjoy your trip to Myanmar.

What if No Show ?

We will treat this as cancellation under 24 hours and it will charge full amount of your trip.

What to expect in Myanmar

Do I need Visa?

Most of nationalities require visit visa to enter in Myanmar.

Visa-free travel (for 14 days, or longer in some cases) is permitted for Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei, Cambodia and Laos passport holders.

Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Macau are permitted visa-free travel for up to 28 days.

Chinese and Indian passport holders can a get visa on arrival for USD50 (Not in land border crossing gate, only in airport)

You may apply e-visa from government web portal easily at evisa.moip.gov.mm

Normally tourist visa are valid for 28 days, which can be extended for 14 days. Each day will cost 3 USD and some administration like 5 USD.

 

Electricity in Myanmar

Nowadays, after 2015 election, electricity cut out is significantly reduced. But some rural area, there is no electricity yet, they are using solar power with battery.

Sim Card and Internet

Tourist sim cards are available at Yangon airport. You may request us prior to arrange sim. 

Internet is good enough to communicate most of the country except rural area. If you are willing to go for campaign, trekking , you may expect lack of signal.

Night Life

Most of the cities does not have night life in Myanmar and dark early. There are some night club, bar and Karaoke bar can be found in Yangon and Mandalay. 

Even in beach cities like Ngapali, Ngwe Saung does not have night life. 

If you are fun of night life, spend more time in Yangon and Mandalay.

 

Food & Hygiene

Burmese cuisine enjoys a colorful array of ingredients from seafood, meats and tofu, to vegetables, coconuts, spices and rice.

Traditionally, meals in Myanmar are enjoyed sitting on a bamboo mat at a low table, the eldest are served first as a sign of respect and food is eaten with the right hand. With a tradition of cooking as old as its culture, today the essence of Burmese cuisine remains a cherished past time.

Although Myanmar cuisine is vast and varying from region to region, here we will take a look at some of the country’s most notable dishes.

Hygiene is quite weak all over Myanmar generally. A tip for first time comer is just to drink boiled water to prevent stomach problem.
