An interesting sightseeing tour to Monywa and its surrounding area on a private vehicle ride about three hours from Mandalay.You’ll see the highlights of Mohnyin Thanboddhay, Bodhi Thataung, Shwe Gu Ni Pagoda, Kyaukka Village, PoWinTaung and Shwe Ba Taung (Burmese Petra).
Meet your guide and driver at your hotel in Mandalay,we will drive towards to Monya a city nestled on the banks of the Chindwin River in Northern Myanmar. Our first visit at Mohnyin Thanboddhay, one of the most intricately decorated temples housing over 500,000 Buddha Images. Continue to visit Bodhi Thataung Standing Buddha Statue, is the second largest reclining Buddha in Myanmar.And then proceed to Shwe Gu Ni Pagoda is about 20 miles east of Monywa. The 33 meters high Buddha Image is sticked by gold foils and the original face of Buddha Image is hardly to see because of a thick quote of gold. And then continue to visit Kyaukka Village which is well known for pre-Chaing Mai style lacquer ware since Konbaung era.Enjoy the delicious lunch at the local restaurant.Then head to the western bank of Chindwin River to explore Hpo Win Taung (Powin Taung),consisting of 947 sandstone caves containing the richest collection of mural paintings and Buddhist statues in Southeast Asia. Continue to visit Shwe Ba Taung ,is a short walk from Hpo Win Taung. Monasteries and temples are carved out of the narrow volcanic rocky cliffs with some additional structures were being built during the colonial era, such as the brick entrances with archways built across the pillars complete with Corinthian capitals. Mural painting dates 13th century could be seen in inner walls of some caves.Late evening, we will transfer back to your hotel in Mandalay.
