Day1Mandalay - Pyin Oo Lwin- Meal ( / / )

Cycling around Pyin Oo Lwin
Total cycling hour-approx: 1.5 hour

Be ready to be picked up by our experienced driver at 8:00 am this morning for a scenic 80 km drive to the former British hill station of Pyin Oo Lwin (Maymyo). We will transfer first to the hotel for bike fitting.

Explore the beautiful old colonial style buildings, waterfalls, former markets and the impressive botanical gardens for a taste of local culture.

Lunch will be served at a hand selected local restaurant before continuing on the Peik Kyin Myaung Caves.

These natural caves are growing in popularity with pilgrims throughout the country. Here we can purchase local souvenirs and refreshments as well as enjoying views of the stream and a variety of Buddha images. This is the perfect place to enjoy a tranquil atmosphere and feel close to Buddhism. We will have the opportunity to explore some impressive waterfalls to the south of the caves.

Day2Pyin Oo Lwin - Hsipaw -Meal (B/L / D)

Pyin Oo lwin to Hsipaw by train-6.5 hours/131 km
Train start time-8:21 am

Enjoy your hotel breakfast before your pick up arrives at 07.30 am for transfer to the railway station.

Today we will board a train and head towards Hsipaw across the historic Gokteik Viaduct. This 2260 foot (689 meter) high viaduct was once the largest railway trestle in the world and promises breath-taking views across the Shan State.

Enjoy your lunchbox on board before arriving in Hsipaw this afternoon. The principle town in Shan State sits on the banks of the fantastic Duthawadi River.

On arrival check into your room before enjoying an educational chat with our experienced guide who will be happy to explain all about local Shan life.

Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure before a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel.

Day3Hsipaw Boat Ride- Meal ( B/L / )

Local boat ride-1 hour

Following a local breakfast, we will stretch our legs with an enjoyable walk to the Shan noodle factory and the blacksmith factory. We will have the opportunity to learn about local traditions such as candle and tofu making.

Afterwards we will head to the jetty where we will hop on a local boat upstream for about one hour through unique pineapple and rubber plantations. We can hop off to visit the must-see old Shan monastery before heading back to the boat to visit the immensely interesting confluence of the river. This is the point at which the Duhtawaddy River begins and local life is buzzing for us to see.

On our journey back to Hsipaw we will visit a traditional Shan Village and immerse ourselves in the local life.

Lunch is served at a hand selected local restaurant.

This afternoon starts off with a visit to the Shan Palace, home to the last sky Prince of Hsipaw. The Shan palace is managed by his niece and nephew, the host will happily talk you through the family’s turbulent history over the last 100 years.

As the sun sets on this beautiful day, we will head just outside of town to Nine Buddha Hill where we will enjoy a stunning sunset over Hsipaw and Dokhtawaddy river.

Day 4Trekking Around Hsipaw - Meal ( B / L/ D)

Total trekking hour-approx : 6 hours

Today’s tour starts from your hotel and takes you along Tai, Shan Villages.

We will pass through fantastic scenery including seasonal vegetable crops, rice paddy fields, natural springs and streams where we will enjoy several hours trekking.

As we reach the Palaung Village we will stop for a well-earned rest and local lunch at the village house. This is the perfect place to enjoy the tea plantations and explore local life and the culture of Palaung.

This evening we will meet with the friendly villagers and have unforgettable conversations with help from our experienced guide.

Dinner will be enjoyed at one of the local houses before overnight in a friendly home-stay of Palaung village.

Day 5 Hsipaw - Meal ( B/ / )

Total trekking hour-approx : 2 hours

Enjoy a delicious breakfast before an enjoyable trek to one of the region’s most fantastic waterfalls.

Here we can swim, relax and enjoy at our leisure before a comfortable drive back to the hotel.

Day 6 Hsipaw - Mandalay- Meal ( B/L / )

Enjoy your hotel breakfast.

This morning we will take a comfortable car ride from Hsipaw to Pyin Oo Lwin, stopping at the most famous pagoda in the Northern Shan State, Bawgyo.

Relax and enjoy this scenic journey and beautiful surroundings as we make our way through many different towns.

Lunch will be served at Pyin Oo Lwin’s December Farm. Famous for its strawberry jam, dairy and homemade ice cream. This is a great opportunity to sample the local food and wine.

After lunch we will continue our journey from Pyin Oo Lwin to Mandalay.

Enjoy this modern metropolis with its Chinese influence before heading to U-Bein Bridge for sunset (if time permits).

Our experienced driver will ensure your safe return to the hotel for goodbyes and conclusion of your tour with memories to last a lifetime.

Tonight’s dinner is served in a local restaurant.
