We discovered TMTM through the reviews & we are so glad we did. In advance of our arrival in Myanmar we booked all our land transport arrangements with them. We… read more were a group of five travelling in Myanmar for two weeks from Yangon to Bagan to Mandalay to Inle to Loikaw & then back to Yagan. TMTM arranged all our local transfers as well as providing transport for the longer journeys. They were wholly reliable, their vehicles were all well-maintained, & their prices were very reasonable. They sent us names and phone numbers for all the drivers in advance of our journeys. They took care of what might otherwise have been a lot of worry in planning a trip and we unreservedly recommend them to any one else planning to visit Myanmar.

Enjoy a delicious, local breakfast at the hotel before an exciting day of trekking at Mt. Popa.
A comfortable one-hour drive from Bagan will take us to the magnificent Mt. Popa rising 1,520 meters into the sky. From the starting point we will pass through the traditional village located at the foot of Mt. Popa volcano (600m above sea level) and witness the daily activities of local people. We will ascend gradually and, on the way, we will stop to see the two famous abodes of Nats (Spirit), a small natural spring and rushing stream. As we enter into the beautiful Popa mountain park we will take some time to observe the unique flora & fauna formation at 760m altitude. Beautiful butterflies and rare species of birds can be seen here occasionally. Our journey will take us through the deer park and intriguing sandal wood forest. As we descend along the path bounded by volcanic rocks, we will get to the site where field studies for geological students in Myanmar are often conducted.
Following an exciting day full of adventure, we will head to Mandalay for an overnight stay in our comfortable hotel.
After a delicious breakfast, we will drive to the Mandalay jetty to board a boat trip to Mingun (just 12 km upstream from Mandalay on the west bank).

After lunch, we will continue our explorations into Mandalay city where we will have the opportunity to explore Shwenandaw Kyaung. Our adventure continues with a visit to Kuthodaw Paya, more commonly known as the “world’s biggest book”. The slabs of marble are inscribed with the entire Tipitaka Buddhist scriptures.
For sunset, we will venture to the top of Mandalay Hill where we can enjoy a birds-eye view of Mandalay and hopefully a beautiful sunset.
Overnight stay in your comfortable Mandalay hotel.
Following your hotel breakfast, we will pick you up at 8:00 am by car.
Our comfortable journey to Hsithe will take us north past Mandalay Hill. We will enjoy a scenic drive through agriculture land and many local villages, where you can witness the daily life of rural Myanmar. The road passes to the east of the famous Marble Mountains, where the raw material for the marble carvers of Amarapura is quarried.
At 10.00 am we arrive at Singu, an attractive small town on the left bank of the Ayeyarwady River. Here you will be met by the village boat from Hsithe. The boat trip is a great opportunity to observe wildlife, particularly water birds such as ruddy shelduck, Chinese spot- billed duck, Asian open bill and many black kites, ospreys and cormorantsetc (most birds are migratory and the best time to see them is late November- late March). We arrive in Hsithe at 10:45, in time for light refreshments at the visitor centre.
The attractive building is positioned on the east bank of the river and boasts stunning panoramic views. Often dolphins can be observed feeding in the waters opposite. Here you will learn the skills required to be a successful fisherman/woman. The training lasts one hour and is great fun. First you will be shown how to cast a net and then it is your turn. Using a light net, especially designed for the purpose, you will have two or three trial throws on ground adjacent to the centre. After training, we will go by fishing boat to shallow waters and practice your new found skills. Young or old, male and female, this is something you will enjoy and remember forever.
A well-deserved, delicious lunch will be served in the visitor centre.
After lunch, you will have some free time to enjoy the many information boards that explain about life in the village, including fishing, farming and the local wildlife, especially the Irrawaddy River dolphin. It is also a great opportunity to buy locally-made handicrafts in the visitor centre shop.
In the afternoon, we will go for a tour of the village, which will be led by one of the local villagers. Here we can observe local village life in all fascinating forms- the architecture, the people, the animals, the activities and the monasteries. It is a village of bullock carts, smiling children, and communities going about their daily life which has changed very little over the centuries.
Say farewell to your new found friends in this timeless idyll, it’s time to head back. We will travel by boat, upriver to Singu. Enjoy the spectacle of water birds that look particularly beautiful in the afternoon light.
We will depart Singu at 16.15 pm and have you safely back at your hotel in Mandalay by about 18:30 pm latest.

We will have the opportunity to enjoy a colonial form of transport, the horse and cart to visit some of the highlights. We will take time to explore the 27-metre-high masonry watchtower, Nan Myint (known as the “Leaning Tower of Innwa”), the Bagaya Monastery built with 276 teakwood pillars, and also observe a Myanmar tradition alms bowls workshop. We may do some travel in the area by horse cart if possible.
After a delicious lunch to refuel, we will visit the holy Sagaing Hill, the hub of Buddhism in Myanmar.
As the day comes to an end, we will take a leisurely drive to Amarapura for a romantic sunset at the famous U Bein Bridge, made of teak logs and planks over 200 years ago by Mayor U Bein.
